I had read that furloughs weren't usually given but here his my 2g grrandfater history. July to October 1863 he was hospitalized with a fever at Fort Federal Hill, Baltimore. Then on Dec 22, he is in Barre Center, NY and gets married. March 1864 he leaves for Alexander, VA. Would he of been on furlough that long?
