Fun day at Gettysburg

On April 12, some friends and I had the pleasure of a Pickett's Charge walk with Ranger Matt Atkinson before doing a cleanup on the 59th New York, 69th Pennsylvania and 111th New York regimental positions that we adopted. It was a beautiful day, and we learned a lot of new things that day from Matt.

I've watched a few of Ranger Atkinson's battle walks on You Tube and like captaindrew, I would like very much to go on one of his walks. Thanks for posting.

I would recommend him to anyone. He has a way of talking about the battle that everyone can enjoy, from the guy with a PhD in history down to the 8 year old on a field trip.

The Pennsylvania Monument appears to be in good condition. Probably a recent erection. I would be interested in how a monument this size is transported and set in place on the battlefield. Thanks,
Lubliner.

I believe that Matt is the kind of person that you would like just to sit down and have a beverage (of your choice) with and just shoot the breeze. If nothing else, I believe that he would certainly be entertaining.
Well, at the risk of sounding like a braggart, I got to do just that. After the work was done, we got a behind the scenes look at the Mason Dixon Distillery and Mr Atkinson joined us afterward for dinner and drinks. The man is a hoot...to say the least.

I would hardly classify you as a braggart, more as a very fortunate person and I wish that I had been a fly on the wall for that gathering.

Funny I am listening to all his battle walks on Youtube as I scan CWT and find his tours very interesting and funny.
