Frozen custard is similar to ice cream. The difference is that it is made with eggs in addition to cream and sugar.
It is written eggs been mixed with ice cream since the 1690s. However it really came about in early 1900s. It was first sold commercial in 1919 at Coney Island, NY. Two ice cream vendors, Archie and Elton Kohr added egg yolks to ice cream that created a smoother texture. In their first weekend they sold over 18,000 cones.
There was a frozen custard stand at the 1933 World's Fair in Chicago. Following this date, its popularity spread through the Midwest. Milwaukee became the "unofficial frozen custard capital of the world".
Favorite frozen custards are made by Culver's, Freddy's, and Andy's.
