Today is the 160th of the Battle of Front Royal in the Shenandoah Valley
I used to be a guest writer on a blog (TOCWOC) and I have a bunch of half written drafts from back then that i never finished. One is about how Banks went from having a decent awarness of Jacksons movements up to about May 20 and then being clueless until Jackson attacked at Front Royal on the 23rd and what I think was the cause.
On May 21, Banks wrote a lengthy letter to Secretary of War Stanton about his frustrations with his situation and closed it with: "Col. John S. Clark, one of my aides-de-camp, knows well the position and purposes of the enemy, and can give you all the information the Department may require." Clark did know about the enemy becuase he was the guy on Banks' staff who handled all intel, scouting reports, prisoner interviews etc —- and Banks sent him to DC right as Jackson was approaching!!!!

I also way back posted a blog article about Ewells role in the campaign. It was his idea for Jackson to sidestep Banks through the New Market pass, move stealthy up the Page valley and hit the US detachment at Front Royal by surprise, one of the great maoeuver plays of the war
