Douglas Southall Freeman has always been considered the ultimate authority Robert E. Lee and his 4volume work has long been considered the bible on him.His 4 volume work is a little pricey so I tried to find something less expensive. If you make a google search of "FREEMAN'S ROBERT E.LEE" the first site that comes up is his 4 volume work online.
THIS SURE BEATS PAYING FOR IT

Fortunately for me, the 4 volumes are in the County library as is Freeman's 3 volumes of Lee's Lieutenants.

This is fantastic! I've struggled to get decent, affordable copies of this and Lee's Lieutenants. Site bookmarked. Thanks! I was wondering how this was legal given a copyright of 1934, but she explains the copyright was not correctly renewed and thus Freeman's Lee has entered the public domain.
