CWTrust Franklin ready for spotlight

Any idea when Eastern Flank Battle Park will be completed or is it pretty much finished?

It is finished. Dedicated last week.

But don't let that new traffic flowdesign fool you.

You do NOT have to pay to get in to visit the McGavock Confederate Cemetery. It is always open and free of charge to the public. The way "those in charge" have redirected the traffic, it appears that you HAVE to enter at the Lewisburg Pike entrance and go up to the Carnton Visitors Center to get in.
Not true!

This is only so stupid tourists will pay an entrance fee first because now you have the impression that one must go to the Carnton Mansion parking lot to park. Carnton has nothing to do with the maintenance of the cemetery.

Locals know that members of the Franklin Chapter #14 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy have been entrusted as Board members for the McGavock Cemetery and have taken care of this hallowed ground since the Old Veterans died off in the early 1900's.

The historic entrance is an iron gate on west side of the cemetery near the flag pole that flies the First National.
The iron fence and gate surrounding the graveyard was given by a Miss Gay, I believe, in honor of her brother who died in the battle.

Visitors need to realize that when they come to see the largest privately owned Confederate Cemetery in existance, it is
free of charge !

I haven't been to Franklin for 5-6 years. I have been wanting to go back and look forward to seeing the new preservation efforts. This is exciting news.
