Our son and daughter-in-law had given us two free passes to see the Cyclorama, the movie narrated by Morgan Freeman and tour the museum. It was only the second time I saw the Cyclorama and it remains impressive. One thing a worker brought up was two men carrying off Abraham Lincoln's corpse. This is located where the two thatched huts are on the painting. Never noticed this before. Did anyone else see this? After going through these three areas, naturally you come out directly across from the gift shop and book store. My wife headed right for it and I prayed, "Lead me not into temptation." Didn't work. Walked out after purchasing 3 books. Actually, it was my wife's fault as she kept saying, How about this one?" or "Do you have this one?" From the Visitor Center we drove to a Christian bookstore just shy of the diamond on Chambersburg Street. They have a good selection of used and unused Civil War books as well as a huge selection of metal detectors. Walked out of there with one book - Forget Not the Cry of the Humble by Ronald A. Hopkins. She's letting me read this one, the first three she already hid from me until Christmas. Then we drove to Sunset Ice Cream parlor on Steinwehr Ave. She got a Rebel Yell sundae and I got a Yankee something-or-other. Then we drove out to Barlow's Knoll where I told her about the 11th Corps and read the interpretive tablet to her about Barlow and Gordon. She found it fascinating. It was a gorgeous day with the leaves changing and all. Very scenic this time of year.
