With vacation time in full swing let's discuss vacation memories. To get it started we usually end up in Gettysburg once or twice a year. The best reason is it is 1 1/2 hours away for us and about 2 hours for my son. We used to go just for the day but since we bought a camper this year we have made it into 3 day weekends. We were there a couple of weeks ago and are going for another 3 day weekend in October.

My son's Girlfriend bought him this on our last visit.

The view from the Longstreet tower along Seminary Ridge. If you look real close you can see the PA monument in the distance.

Our campsite at Gettysburg Campground. A little better than the camp sites in 1863.

No relation that I know of but we needed to find this anyway.

The photos that best represent this sort of trip are not mine, but those of @1863surgeon Doug Garnett, taken with his cell phone during our marathon April, 2018 visit. Owing to Doug's physical limitations, we were compelled to stick pretty closely to the auto tour. Above, Doug photographed his truck one morning amid an unseasonable snow flurry.

Doug remained in the truck while I was photographing the Virginia Monument on Cemetery Ridge; note the blue tour bus at left.

I forced him to get out and walk the trail leading to the overlook on Little Round Top, where he photographed me and his son Bradley.

Devils Den with tourists as seen from the truck in the parking lot in the Slaughter Pen; below the so-called Sniper's Den can now be seen plainly from the road.
