My wife and I attended the annual Robert Fortenbaugh Memorial Lecture in Gettysburg this weekend. It was our first chance to attend the Fortenbaugh. In the past, business commitments were problematic. This time we had no such issues.

The Fortenbaugh event is conducted by the staff of the Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College. This year's speaker was Louis P. Masur, who was excellent. He talked about Lincoln and the plans for Reconstruction. I believe Masur's remarks were recorded, so if the event shows up on CSPAN3 sometime in the future, don't miss it.

My understanding is that next year Carol Reardon will give the Fortenbaugh lecture. I've heard her speak many times and she is always outstanding.
