Fort Pulaski is a great CW location to visit. The fort is in good shape and is far enough from "modern life" that you can get a real sense of that it would have been like at the time. You can find more about the fort here. BTW, if you are interested in Civil War Artillery, Fort Pulaski has the only surviving period sling cart. It is not as big as this one, but it is fairly impressive.
