I would like to ask a question on the Fort Pillow Controversy. Did a so called massacre take place? I read some other posts on here. General Sherman didn’t think Forrest was at fault. Will some member give an analysis? Thanks in advance.

This doesn't belong in the Fort Sumter forum. It belongs either in South and Western Theater forum or Nathan Bedford Forrest forum. Perhaps the moderators can move it for us.

As to Sherman, he never said he didn't think Forrest was responsible for it. He said he thought the soldiers should take care of any retaliation for it.

If you read my question & comments I stated this but, didn’t find what I was looking for . I will look again

The concept is rather than having multiple repetitive threads, you place your query on an existing Fort Pillow thread

1. It will alert all of the previous posters on that thread, thus, giving you a better shot at an answer

2. It keeps the subject matter grouped, accordingly, rather than on un-relatd forums

@7th Mississippi Infantry is the moderator for the Nathan B Forrest forum - he'll see that your inquiry is placed in the correct section! We do indeed have a large number of posts about this controversial topic and so it merited a sub-forum of its own. There's a lot of information in there!
I just requested this thread be moved to the Ft. Pillow forum.
