Forgotten battle

Thanks!

Clayton Cramer wrote in one of his books that some of the first gun control laws sought to keep firearms out of the hands of free blacks. Antebellum gun laws sought to prevent a slave revolt ala Nate Turner (or what happened in Haiti to the French). Slaves could, with consent of their master, possess and use firearms; presumably to control the varmints that threatened crops. Post-war firearms restriction laws were intended to make it safe for the KKK to lynch black folks.

"an irrational fear that the federal government is going to take away their guns."

Based on the evidence just presented do you think such fear is "irrational"?

I think the issue then was a fear of the state government by blacks..

The blog stated "Today the most extreme Second Amendment advocates harbor what most reasonable people view as an irrational fear that the federal government is going to take away their guns."

With the information presented in the article... Would it be irrational to be afraid of the Federal Government to take away your guns?
Personally I think the evidence lends support to the very reason why the Second Amendment is vital today as it was back then where groups decide who should have weapons and who should not.

Back then it was the state government trying to take away guns,so based on that I think it is irrational to fear the federal gov will take ones guns..
