Forces at Lynchburg?

Been reading recently about the miscellaneous forces in VA and NC after Lee's and Johnston's surrenders. Generals Bragg and Baker commanded scattered cavalry and partisan rangers in the Roanoke region along the VA/NC border, and General Echols commanded forces in Southwest Virginia, but I have only seen vague references to the forces at Lynchburg.

Apparently, a week after Appomattox, General Raleigh E. Colston "evacuated Lynchburg with his forces" but as of yet I am unaware of what forces he actually had. If it was just scattered detachments, it wouldn't be called "forces," so I'm guessing he had at least one Reserves battalion. Could it be the missing 7th or 8th battalions? They disappear after mid-1864.

I'm wondering if the Museum Of Lynchburg has anything in their records/archives. I visited it in January 2015 and there are some Civil War artifacts and exhibits there.

It's a good question. Lynchburg was never occupied during the war before that point, right?
