Footlockers

I know there are officer footlocker from the acw, but did enlisted men have them? If so, where were they kept/carried while on campaign/in battle? If not, did enlisted men only have what would fit in their haversacks and knapsack for the entire enlistment? Men bought/scavenged pans for cooking, coffee pots, books and writing kits, etc, while in winter camp. Without a way to carry it,, was all this stuff just left behind when camp was broken and the units moved on?

I've seen reference to winter quarter gear being shipped off to rear area warehouses.
