The (Union held) New Orleans Daily Chronicle, of 1 November 1862, offers the following humorous "Psalm" chronicling the soldier's life under Stonewall Jackson:

Ha! Obviously the Confederate army was composed of men who could have written for a living. That's awesome! Most seem dedicated to the poor fellow's outraged stomach, not really a lack of food but the type.
