Posted earlier but the post got moved to somewhere that's not particularly helpful. I'm looking for the identity of a Tennessee soldier who joined the 78th Ohio just before they moved south from Memphis during the Vicksburg Campaign. Probably somewhere between Grand Junction and Memphis during November, possibly December.

I don't have any experience with Fold3, is that something that could be researched there? Is there a better research tool to find this soldier's name?

You can try looking in the Roster of Ohio Soldiers in the War of the Rebellion. It is available through Archive.org and Hathi Trust for free. The roster of the 78th will have the enlistment date for each soldier and you may be able to figure out the soldier's name from there. Or at least narrow it down.

Do you know anything else about this soldier that might help in identification?
