Found this this morning on a Gettysburg campaign site. No other civilian relics were found, heck I was lucky enough to find this there! I've never seen a rivet with a design on it before, any ideas on what it could have went to? If it helps, the site is confederate.

I found one with a star design on it. It's been cut with wire or bolt cutters. I was told they were used for securing thick pieces of leather on horse equipment, like saddles, etc. Mine was found on a farm that used horses for all the plowing and pulling early 1900's until 1930's.
