Here is a three part critique of the film Gettysburg I came across on YouTube. If you can look past some crude language, the presenter in the videos does make some valid points about the film's short comings. Also, a couple highlights are a silly parody of the Lee-Stuart scene at the end of Part 2 and the presenter talking about participating in a reenactment of Pickett's Charge in 2013 at the end of Part 3.

I was watching Band of Brothers. This guys Youtube made me notice Spielberg including a shot of a female nurses hands. The documentary style of Gettysburg was memorable after that. But then, Spielberg, after all.

Gettysburg is more of a documentary of re-enactors, than of actual history. The sanitized violence looks very noticeable after Band of Brothers. After BoB, fireworks loose their appeal.
