Lincoln First Bull Run fallout

OTD - July 22, 1861
Gen. Scott calls at the White House at 2 A.M. and insists that Mrs. Lincoln and boys be sent north out of danger. Mrs. Lincoln refuses to leave.
At 3 A.M. President has a long talk with Gen. Meigs, just returned from Bull Run.
Gen. McClellan ordered to Washington, to command troops defending capital.

General Meigs was Lincoln's assistant-aide of what was going on with War. Meigs was an old veteran of Wars. Being in Washington DC would the safest place in America, at that time.
