All I have is this. Based on the name, I assume it's a Florida company, but the above statement is rations given out in Savannah during the siege. I don't think there were Florida troops at Savannah then, but this is what it says. Captain McKone is not listed in anything I can find; nor is any company known as the Finegan Rifles.

Anybody know who or what the Finegan Rifles were?

Could not find any organized unit (company) with this designation.

Looks like a detached loosely organized temporary group (formed only for a brief period.) - say, a volunteer company suddenly arranged for an urgent defense.

There is a Finegan's Brigade listed for Florida. The only two soldiers I see designated as serving in it are L. J. Matier and W. H. Young. Little information is given for either man but there are small clues. Matier is said to have been in Captain Underwood's company in Finegan's Brigade. And Young was a musician who seems to have also served with the 2nd Florida Infantry.

There's a number of men in the 2nd FL who have names that could have been transcribed as McKone. None that I can see rose to the rank of Captain but that could be a situational promotion that didn't make it into the official records.

Thought the extract included in the OP refers to a company (not a brigade) unit, known as 'Finegan Rifles', who was commanded by Capt. Mckone. At least that's how I read it.
Yes. Finegan at this time would be with the AoNV, commanding a brigade composed of the 2nd, 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th Florida infantry. I am thinking that perhaps the Finegan Rifles were a company of detached men from this brigade, so the information found by @lupaglupa could be very useful.

It might have been a home guard/reserve unit. I've been looking into the Wakulla Militia recently. A unit at Natural Brudge I'd not heard of.

The mainline units had some interesting names. State units not to be outshines.
