Back to cavalry movement site. Got on an iron patch and started digging everything . Not sure if this spur is period and or just civilian . This button or fastener has some canvas still attached and this plate has traction spikes? Maybe it was a boot heel plate or ox/mule shoe fragment . All in all I had a great time just had to peace out when it got to hot and I sweated completely out

Anytime I dig something and it's not obviously Yankee it has to be Confederate . Possibly your spur was civilian pressed into Southern service. The "button" I think is from canvas gear and not a uniform button, I've dug ones like it but not with cloth still attached. The shoe heel plate still has a few of the attaching nails. Keep up the good work

yes sir I was on the discard pit. I did get some horse buckles too . Might go back when I'm not pushing for heat exhaustion

Cleaned it best I could the rowel was brittle lost some of the spikes . Now to wax it
