Howdy all

For those of you on CWT, are authors and had ancestors who served in the Civil War, have they provided you with inspiration for your writing?

In relation to my American Civil War historical fiction saga, I've created a mixture of fact and fiction for my stories, using real family members alongside the many fictional families and they are all intertwined through marriages and such.

A search for more information about my not-all-that-recently discovered GGGG-Uncle prompted me to undertake writing a history of the regiment he served in because one does not currently exist.

That is what frustrates me. I can remember some of these "stories" but I can't keep the fiction separated from the fact.

My cousin's family novel is easier because he included 1494 footnotes and copies of several documents that lets you know the important facts.
