Everyone Should Watch This Video

Thanks. Haven't seen that one. He's a favorite of mine.

I once sent him a fan email and to my surprise he responded right away, was every bit the gentleman, and answered a question I had asked regarding some references in one of his books.

I'm sharing computer time due to mine being in hospital but will have a look.

Sadly, I need closed captioning in order to understand it. None is offered here:thumbsdown: -- but then Youtube captions are usually worse than useless.
There are lots of excellent Gallagher videos on the C-SPAN website. This one, however, is not among them.

jno

CORRECTION: it is there, under a different title, with good captions, and a searchable transcript! http://www.c-span.org/video/?192900-1/depth-gary-gallagher

I thought about posting the link to C-SPAN's site, but never got to it. Thanks for saving me some time.

I'm bumping this. The volume is very low and you'll need to hang your head near your computer's speaker. It's interesting, though. At about 24 minutes is a tour of Gallagher's home, including his work space and his library. In case no one else notices, there is a rotary dial phone beneath his desk - that's pretty cool! And he shows viewers his naval history collection - about two thirds of one shelf. There is an apology to Navy fans for this - pull up a chair and watch.

I didn't have any problems with the volume. Did you push up the YouTube volume also?

Yes, that helps a little bit. The trick is just to shut out background noise and listen. I'm an hour into it, worth it. Thanks for posting.
