or if I could do it with an image of the man himself, this is the one I would choose ;)

Here's lookin' at you kid ;)

Now that's what you call a 'whirlwind romance'! How fortuitous for both of them that it was one that was made to last  Do you have any pictures of her?

We do! For a long time none could be found but some family members posted this one:

This was taken several years after her husband died and the baby is her grandson.

And, the romantic meeting is memorialized by John Paul Strain:

And I don't speak Spanish, either, but picking some up is unavoidable in California. :)

What I love is that my wife (who is Mexican-American) speaks none and asks the Jewish guy (who never studied Spanish) how to spell words when she's trying to send texts with Spanish words in them. More often than not, I am the one saying "hijole" while she's saying "oy vay". Talk about the melting pot....

She looks so sad in that top ph0to, Diane :( I wonder how long that was after Forrest died? She still looks quite young there, too. I would have thought that was her own child she was holding on her knee.

The second image is sweet :) Though I don't think it looks much like the image of Forrest I have in my mind.

Well, it wasn't too long after Forrest died - she's still wearing black - and they had lost pretty much everything what with the war and all. Forrest didn't even have a place of his own to die in - died at his brother's home. Mary Ann went to live with Willie and his wife, helped raise the kids and all. She's probably about 50 or so in that photo.

There's only one picture of Forrest without his chin beard - he didn't wear one until after his marriage. Have to say...he does look seriously different without it!

We'll give Justin Beiber a by-ball on this one since he's Canadian ;)

You guys sound sweet :) Melting pots are the order of the day in our modern world, and more power to them. No better way to create harmony...at least until the FIFA World Cup comes around :P

 That is fun! There was a wonderful Jewish deli way over the hill - we'd make special trips to stock up on Saul's home made sauerkraut and bagels. Believe it or not, he made kosher tamales!

You would absolutely love my wife, @Cavalry Charger!! Not only is she just an all-around amazing woman (she puts up with me on a daily basis, mind you!), she is a wonderful massage therapist and esthetician, great mother, and can fix almost anything that breaks around our home.

And fortunately, neither of us care about soccer.

I'm sure I would :) She sounds amazing, and you're obviously a very lucky man! I don't know what an esthetician is, but it sounds fascinating, and her DIY expertise would beat me hands down. I'm not a very practical person, a dreamer if you will, so if she's up for giving advice, I'll take it! Good to hear soccer doesn't get in the way of your wonderful romance. A draw will normally prevent too much of an upset ;)
