From LoC newspapers. I remember Dad taking me on visits to elderly in Schuylkill County, PA. He was a Lutheran minister, circa 1960's. OH my gosh. One received very regular visits. I was only 8 or so, remember tinted bottles in a half-basement, white-washed kitchen, on a table, Dad sampling all of them. Mr. Miller. He was so happy pulling those bottles out. Dad did not sample alone. Teaberry, Dandelion, Strawberry, Elderberry, Blackberry- the old winemakers knew their stuff. Teaberry. Who makes teaberry wine anymore?

Well, if you have more than one glass of that wine, you might get pretty intoxicated ...

I do like wintergreen.you used to be able to buy oil of wintergreen as that is what is used in all those creams that warm your skin like Ben Gay.i am not sure of the spelling but it is called methyl salicytate.can't buy it over the counter anymore.

When much younger, we went to the dairy with Dad each week for milk. Took our glass jugs with us to exchange for full gallons. The dairy also sold "homemade" Ice Cream. My favorite was Teaberry. I remember it having a slightly minty taste, was a rich reddish-pink color and to me the highlight of our trip to the dairy. We generally sat on the fence watching the cows while eating our cone....the other thing I remember very well is the aroma.

That is truly a nice memory.homemade ice while watching the cows.

How many of you remember Clark's Teaberry Gum? It was one of my favorites.

The history of Teaberry Gum starts in 1900. It really became popular in the 1960s. Actually the Clark Company had Herb Alpert and his Tijuana Brass record "The Teaberry Shuffle". It was a rerecording of his "The Mexican Shuffle" with Teaberry lyrics. It is a commercial and is on YouTube.

It may sound strange, but it is a good memory.

Yes! I remember it and favored Teaberry Gum too! Perhaps that is what interested me in that flavor of Ice Cream...
