Way back in the early 1970's Parker-Hale was the first modern company to make a replica of the various versions of the P-53 Enfield including the Naval Rifle and the Artillery Carbine.
Unfortunately, one of their "cost cutting" ideas was to make a two piece ramrod. This was accomplished by making the "head" section of the ramrod on a lathe and then turning a "male" section that would fit into a hole drilled in the end of the "female" end of the rod that made the body of the ramrod.
The problem came about when Skirmishers tried to use the P-H ramrod as a bullet puller. When they had a stuck Minie Ball in their barrel, they would screw on the "Ball Puller" or even "Wiper" end on the thrads on the bottom of the ramrod. Then they would run the ramrod into the barrel and the ball puller or wiper would "bite' into the lead Minie.
Usually, to get enough leverage, the Skirmisher would run a screwdriver blade thru the shot in the head of the Enfield ramrod and P-U-L-L.
Instead of pulling the stuck bullet out of the bore, the head of the P-H ramrod would come off! Leaving the hapless Skirmisher with not only a stuck bullet in his barrel but also a stuck ramrod!!!
