Electrolysis and Gempler's Rust Converter

This is probably a really dumb question but here goes. If I use rust converter on my sacrificial metal in my electrolysis tank, will the sacrificial metal still act as a cathode or will the Gempler's insulate the sacrificial plate and hinder electrical current? Any ideas?
I have an even dumber question?:cold: Why would you cover your donor metal in Gemplers????? It will not make a difference as it works thru out the metal. As long as it doesn't hinder your connection to the donor metal but will slow down the process. I always take a grinder to my donor metal to shine it as much as possible to get to bare metal.

That makes better sense! I guess I was postulating the thought that rust converter would eliminate the rust and lengthen the lifetime of your sacrificial metal. I thought it was a stupid idea but I just needed some confirmation. 😀😀😀
