"Eddie" The nickname of Edward Baker Lincoln, the second of President Lincoln's four sons. He was named after Edward D, baker, a close family friend and former congressmen. Baker, the family friend, would later become a Union Colonel who was killed in 1861 at Balls Buff, Virginia. Edward Lincoln died when he was four, 11 years before Lincoln became president in 1861. The boy's death brought his parents closer together and Mrs. Lincoln joined the Presbyterian Church at that time. This also would be one of the great sorrows for the Lincolns.
