Period Easter Simnel Cake

Happy Easter everyone. I was having a look online about various easter time foods from the 19th century and I came across this cake. To my recollection I have never seen it before. It looks an interesting traditional cake.

The British supermarket chain Marks & Spencer's had the cake in their city center story today. It's good , it tastes like the a traditional fruit cake with a small bit of Marzipan. It was delicious with a cup of tea.

Hmm... fruitcake and marzipan. Two things I avoid. I could go for the cup of tea though!
