This is looking over the valley from atop of Dug Gap which is the middle pass of Rocky Face Ridge. Standing on top and looking down I can see that there was no way Sherman was going to take the gaps. A walk around was the only solution.

This is a view I took last year looking southeast toward Dug Gap from atop White Oak Ridge at Ringgold, Ga. Indeed these ridges made the various gaps and passes in them of prime military importance during the Atlanta Campaign.

Great shot! Was this taken near the area the attack by Geary's Division took place? I would imagine it would be one heck of a climb, especially under fire along with boulders being rolled town at you!
