Dovetailed front sight

I have an Armisport 3 band Enfield and would like to put a dovetailed front sight on it, but I'm wondering how deep I can cut without ruining the barrel. Barrel OD at the front sight is .770 with a .580 bore. The sight I want to put on is the one from S&S that has a .055 dovetail base.

You'd have to measure the barrel wall thickness from the bottom of the grooves to see how much meat you have left to install the dovetail.
