I remember watching this black and white documentary when we first moved back when I was in junior high (20 years ago) I think it was on A&E we had just basic cable then no history channel. I cant give you a whole lot of information but it was old, and actors were portraying soldiers in the field and they were being interviewed. Kind of like you would see on the news today. Does anyone know the name of that documentary and know where I could watch it or purchase it? I know its vague details but any help would be appreciated.

Probably the old CBS series, "You Are There."
Hey thanks I checked out that series and it wasn't it. I just remember watching it only seen it once and my mom coming in from the kitchen and this Rebel officer was being interviewed right after Petersburg and my mom was like I had no idea they had live footage back then, and I was like umm mom this is a documentary. Just kind of stuck with me. Thanks though.

The first telecast was shown on Feb.1,1953 and the last broadcast was shown on Oct.,13,1957.there were a total of 75 shows of which 50 are known to exist today.the m.c. of the show was Walter Cronkite

What do you mean by "after Petersburg?" Does it include Appomattox?
