Thomas Adrian Wheat, MD.

Adrian was not only an actual US Army surgeon, but also a long standing reenactor. Active in many of the historical medical organizations.. Society of Civil War Surgeons... Civil War Medical Museum, etc. I first met Adrian on the eve of the 125th Civil War anniversary cycle, and became one of his medical staff conducting medical demo, lectures and programs all along the east coast at historical museums, events and reenactments. Unlike what most would expect to find with someone of his academic background and knowledge... he was soft spoken, quick witted, and always willing to teach and support. He retired from the Army as a Colonel, and went into private practice for awhile. I learned so much of my medical and practical knowledge of the Civil War medical from Adrian. All this was fairly sudden and unexpected. He was on schedule to participate in the 150th Sailors Creek - Hillsman House Medical program next month. Anyone that has participated in the historical medical community for any length of time or standing probably crossed paths with this gentleman at some point in time.... A great loss to the reenactment as well as the historical medical community....
This last photo was taken at the Harper House Medical program at the 125th Bentonville...
