My father would stand up and put his hand over his heart anytime this was played. We, as the children wanted to hide..
Makes me smile now. Thanks for posting this
Great rendition and an amazing response from the crowd. Lovely folks, proud of their heritage. Saw this for the first time a few weeks ago. Love Dixie & The Bonnie Blue Flag!
That is still being debated. Some say South of the Mason Dixon line. Some say DIX was a $10.00 note in old Louisiana. Any other ideas out there just what is the meaning of Dixie?

Personally, I think it has more to do with old French currency than a man named "Dixon" (that surveyed) the boundary between
Maryland and Pennsylvania.
I doubt anyone in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, Texas, ect. knew or cared that Maryland and Pennsylvania
were having a feud over a property line.
While uniform regulations existed within the CSA on paper, in reality that never really happened.
Actually a green uniform would be accurate for a few officers. (A pre-war militia uniform would be my first guess for that guy's persona).
There are other threads about this topic, but most don't realize many CSA enlisted units actually had better uniforms at the end of the War than the first three years.
There's additional footage of that same weekend when more than a few yankee reenactors showed up at larger event that same night. See @captaindrew's above post.
But since this is "campfire chat" I'll gladly post it again.
The yankee reenactors only dream of such support !
