My company released a free and open source video game called Dixie Ball, which is about getting a fallen civil war soldier to the afterlife. It's still in development, and we have plans to add lots of new features to it in the future. If you're interested in giving it a try, you can check it out here:

You're new and a recent addition to CWT, so can you tell us how you (or your design team) came up with this game?

Are there different path options for the varying prevalent faiths found in the South at that time?

Is this like Rod & Todd Flanders' BIBLE BLASTER or more like the Biblical Snakes & Ladders?

Hi Story,
I loved Marble Madness as a kid. I initially meant to make a game like that, but in 3d. Over time I studied games like Marble Blast and Marble it Up, and thought I'd make a marble racing game with a timer. We tried to implement a parkour jump system, but had allot of trouble with that and had to scrap it. With a general lack of direction for the project we took a break, and then decided to make it into more of an adventure style game. That's when we came up with the idea of a single level, starting from home, leading through memories of the civil war, and finally to the mountain's summit where the player character's soul would be freed.

There's one primary path, with some dead ends and area's that spread out. We aim to put easter eggs and some other content in these area's to encourage the player to explore more, instead of simply going from A to B to C etc.

And haha, no, it's not like either of those games.

Interesting.

As I mentioned, you're new here offering a free game.

Sort of a blind offering, pig in a poke software.

Fudge & Humbug remain skeptical.

It's our first game, and we don't have any brand recognition yet. I can see why people would be skeptical as to our sincerity. We aim to continue releasing updates for the rest of the year with the hope of making the game so enjoyable people can't ignore it. Time will tell if releasing ones work for free and relying on donations is a valid business strategy for our company.
