Hello everyone. I know I have asked a few questions about my ancestors but this one is plaguing me now.

That is the Military tombstone of my ancestor, and as you can see he is listed as a Corporal.

Now lets go to civilwarindex and see the roster: http://www.civilwarindex.com/armyin/soldiers/101st_in_infantry_soldiers.pdf

There he is listed as a Private.

A website dedicated to the 101st Indiana also has him listed as a Private.

Now, Edom was transfered over to a V.R.C. regiment, but I do not know which, is there somewhere I could go to find rosters for the Veterans Reserve Corps?

Edom A. Ratcliff was mustered in as a Private and out as a Corporal according to his CSR index card. I would assume whoever compiled the postbellum AG roster that you found either made a mistake or was working off an incorrect copy of the discharge rolls. Alternatively, Edom might have been promoted after his transfer into the Veteran Reserve. Both his V.R.C. records as well as his Indiana volunteer records will be at NARA.

Never thought of using the NARA, as soon as I gather some funds I shall request some information. Thanks for the post!
