Does anyone know of an artist who can make a tintype from a digital image? I have some family photos that my cousins were gracious enough to share scans of and I would like to have them "immortalized" and get copies for my siblings.

I found this one place via an internet search but their sizes are 4x5, 5x7 or 8x10 none of which will fit into thermoplastic or leather cases. http://digitaltintypes.com/collections/make-your-own-digital-tintype

Is there a tintype artist who can transfer digital images to authentic sized 1/6th or 1/2 plate tintypes that will fit into appropriate frames?

Has anyone ever had this done? Any recommendations?

This is new to me. I like the idea. I clicked the link and found an interesting photo here.

I retouched this photo two years ago for someone. I just sent him a email to see if he had a tintype made and if he likes it.

Edit - At the website you have to click the right arrow several times until you get to the photo.

Edit #2 - He was very happy with the tintype!

Send me a PM, I'll put you in touch with Dave Rambow a fine gentleman here in Minnesota. I believe ho could create either a glass plate or tintype of a digitized photo fairly easily.
I'm here in Minnesota, Johan; I'd love to get a few tintypes myself--where is Dave Rambow?

Hi Laura,

I make the tintypes at digitaltintypes.com. We do all types of custom sizes, just shoot me an email if you want and I can help you get started. [email protected]

The above tintype is one I made for a client, the first one we made was of a relative to fit a 1/9 case.

I can make tintypes from your digital files or from your old photographs, just depends what you want to do! all the best, Jen Jansen

Dave Rambow, now there's a name I've not heard in many years! We reenacted together in the very early 90s when I lived in Sioux Falls!

I made the tintype, as well as another piece for this client.
