Deja vu

Didn't know where to post this so here goes.

I believe in Deja vu. Why? Because I want to. I want to believe that I had a previous life and I was at places in the past, like Gen. Patton. I have traveled to many historical places, hoping at some point, it will all come crashing back. So far no luck. It has left me disappointed. A good example was my visit to Lincoln's home in Springfield. Nothing, not even an odd feeling.

I say this because a few years ago I was visiting relatives in Petersburg Va. We did the battlefield, the Crater etc, all of it. Afterwards after dinner my uncle said one more place to see. It was to City Point. I was sitting in the front seat, taking in the area when we rounded a corner. There it was! Not the City Point of today but the one of 1865. My hair stood on end, my pulse raced, my breathing increased. I had the weirdest feeling for a few seconds then it passed. No one believed me of course. When we stopped by a sign that contained that picture of 1865 City Point, I said that is what I saw. Their explanation was I read too much and have a great imagination. I know what I saw and felt.

My question to you is...Were they right? or have any of you experienced a similar event?

I don't believe I have had a previous life , but I had an interesting experience in the Wheatfield . It was a very hot July morning and my girlfriend had gone on a tour of the Eisenhower farm . I was completely alone when I noticed a flank marker for the 61st NY . Some one had placed an artificial rose with it . Suddenly I choked up and tears ran down my face . This is not my typical behavior . I felt embarrassed and looked around but I was still alone . Years later I found out that I had a GGUncle in the 61st , but he wasn't at Gettysburg . When I told this story to friends and family they have all been surprised by my reaction.

I've had a number of deja vu experiences, though none in recent years. They would come to me first as a dream which I would recall at a future time as I relived the dream in real time. I've not experience anything like that on a battlefield though I do recall feeling a sensation of deep sadness when visiting what is now the Sand Creek National Historic Site (it was privately owned at the time).

I can see why Sand Creek would do that to you .

PS - if you folks are believing this ain't your first rodeo, then you'd best do a better job here than you did the last time.

Jus' sayin'.
