The "Lion of the Confederacy" monument is one of my favorite American Civil War monuments. In my opinion, it is the epitome of the Confederacy. I remember standing in front of this mass grave monument with my son in 2014. He said, "Dad, how could anyone throw a bunch of human beings into a large hole without a proper burial? They were thrown in here like yesterday's trash." Wow! This experience brought a tear to my eye.
