Did any one see- Death during the Civil War- Documentary? This was aired on WNED the other night, a fascinating review of the terrible events that happened after the battles- highly recommended!

Welcome to the forum. The group just had a lengthy discussion on this topic. To read it go to the search engine at the top right of the page and type in "Death and the Civil War on PBS". Enjoy!

When I think of Death, in the Civil war. All I can think of is that ounce of lead tearing up flesh and smashing bone. Much better to have a copper clad pass cleanly through.

The minnie'Ball was a weapon of mass destruction, ironically my mother-in-law's name, yep- Minnie Ball!!

Reminds me of the scene in Patton where he says that the one thing about battle that scared him the most is the thought of a bullet coming straight at his nose. In that case I would opt for the Minnie bullet. It would get the job done quicker.

I was just showing my G.F. tonight the size of a .223 bullet and a 7.62x39 to the size of a .55,.58 and a .69 bullet. needless to say i would much rather be hit by the 7.62x39 round again then hit by any of the CW rounds.
