CWT Stones River Muster Diorama

I ask @rebel brit at the Stones River muster last year if he would make me a diorama of the Orphan Brigade crossing the Stones River which our very own @Rusk County Avengers recreated. I didn't think he could out do the Gen N B Forrest diorama he made for me but I was way wrong. Not only did he knock it out of the park but even put @Rusk County Avengers right in the middle of the diorama. Thanks Ken for another fantastic piece.

Well first off, I never once ever thought I'd be the proud owner of a diorama, much less one of @Rebel brit's fine works, but also never thought I'd get a chance to ford any CW river ford with historical significance, also never once thought I'd appear in a diorama!

What was just another day being me and being crazy enough to go for a freezing swim in uniform, turned into one of the most humbling days of my life. When @Diane123 and everyone else decided I should get that original diorama and standing ovations in such august company, talk about overwhelmed!

I just wish I could've made this year's muster, but life is a busy enterprise. I'm glad @ucvrelics goaded me into that stunt. But maybe next year, and maybe some new stunt could happen.

Lord knows I'd love to dust off a Confederate uniform since so's and so's that claim to be Confederate run me out of reenacting. Then stole my ideas and pawned them off as they're own with an event I had been keeping running for them.

I bring that up as it's one of many, many reasons I've not been as active on this site. The study and talk of CW history has become quite painful to me. Nothing against all the great and admirable company here, Lord knows I love y'all. And I must say I'm once again humbled.

But here's the original diorama for those unfamiliar! I know it's one of my most cherished possessions.

Copying one of David Wright's paintings of Forrest eh? I wonder if he could do it with my favorite one from that artist, "Escape from Fort Donelson" even though that includes a horse.

Unfortunately fantasy and science fiction seem more popular than historical miniatures now. That said there will always be some dedicated to historical miniatures and dioramas.

Quite a lengthy time consuming project. I wasn't sure it was going to be finished on time, was hoping the paint wasn't still wet as I boarded the flight over.

In real life all he had time to say or think when he hit the hole was "Oh sh**!!!!" before screaming for someone to shoot someone named Richard.

I know because I read an unpublished first-hand account, long ago.
