CWT Muster Stunt 2022

An addendum for you @Ole Miss and others concerned for my strength and food.

I got up this morning, didn't eat breakfast, but had some leftover Manwich and a microwave package of rice for brunch, went into work where the other crew slacked off and caused h*ll they'll never be held accountable for, (believe what the Bible says about charmers!!!!!), so I spent 9 hours swinging a sledgehammer constantly, beating down 7 train cars with caked soybean meal that wouldn't come loose, came home tonight and I'm debating if I'm hungry enough to eat a Poptart. I'm really not but am wondering if I should, but I probably won't.

I really don't like tooting my horn about all this stuff, but I really don't want y'all worrying or going to special lengths in those departments on my account. I love y'all and am touched by the concern, but I want y'all to put your minds to rest.

I need some more fellow reenactors in on this discussion, @7thWisconsin @captaindrew @Yankee Brooke any of y'all got experience with river crossings in full kit?
I don't have much river crossing experience. Especially not in full kit. I've been rained on and drenched enough to know your uniform will be fine. Take your leathers off and hang them from the muzzle/bayonet.

I will bring the ALS jump bag just in case .
Ok, I gotta say it, I've no clue what that is.

As for @ucvrelics you can keep the dang water wings, just bring firewood and have a fire going for me on the other side! Forecasts saying the lows up yonder are in the 40's. The dang 40's! That water temperature is gonna be cold!

Also, I got a 4th KY/"Orphan Brigade" flag in the mail yesterday, and apparently, I gotta make a new pole this weekend as all the ones I have SCV ceremonies are no good for this one. And I'm starting to wonder where the Columbus Depot jacket for this I ordered is in the US right now....

ALS=Advanced Life Support...Trust us, it's a good thing to have around. But, I also have faith that we won't need it and also, it's supposed to be sunny, warm and comfortable in Murfreesboro next week. The bottom line is we ain't gonna let anything happen to you on our watch.

For the record, and for a possibly lively reenacting forum discussion, I did do the stunt for those who don't know. It was absolutely freezing, and I will not be taking such a swim again!:cold:

It may not have been a reenactment, but bragging rights I have for carrying colors across McFadden's Ford, per @7thWisconsin's suggestion it was colors and to my amazement, the flag being cotton and advertised as "indoor use only" and overall "don't get wet" has survived its fall into the frigid waters without fading or damage whatsoever. It was a great surprise to me!

It may be a mass produced 3x5 version instead of a true replica and copy, but that flag will now hold a special place in my heart and collection. Plus, its got a claim to fame now most replica flags, true and mass-produced, simply does not have. Also, the sutler row Blockade Runner Columbus Depot jacket, while having many details off historically, held up very well and also has a special claim now. After sewing some brass penny buttons on it while touring the battlefield, (and confirming with Larry Hicklen of Yesteryear relics fame, those buttons have turned up all over the ford), I would say it passed inspection for the task, although many a fellow "stitchcounter" like myself were horrified I bought it.

Here is a good video shot by our own @lelliott19 and I can attest there is another excellent video around somewhere by @16thAL and his lovely wife @MS2623 that is hilarious as they caught me dropping out of site into the river to begin and there were some shocked expletives by me.

Also, many folks got many good pictures, and @Gettmore caught amazing ones, all over on the "Going Live" thread of course.

I'm just glad your head stayed above water before I had to dive in after you . Especially after your previous report on the water temperature.
Would've been funny. Pardon me for saying it though, I have had prettier lifeguards rescue me.

Seriously, I used to fake drowning at water parks to get the hot women lifeguards jump in. Good times.

Also, we all need to see the video y'all shot!

She's trying now to get it uploaded to YouTube so it will post .

Here you go @Rusk County Avengers and @ucvrelics the video was so long I couldn't send it in an email and it took me a few to figure out how to actually make it work on YouTube but I got it finally.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, now I got to send that one around work. Seriously, Saturday night when the head honcho was texting me interrupting my drinking time, I may have made a mistake sending him @lelliott19's video as proof of life and insanity. I'm now "Private Pepper" at work.

Bad part is, I'm technically a Sergeant with a strong possibility of soon having to assume an officer's rank.
