Tonight I am working on a CWRT presentation I have to give next. How to tell if a image is a Civil War image. Care to take a crack at this one?

I think this has been posted before....I remember the Captain America-ish chest emblem. IIRC this was a post-war image.

As a side note...our CWRT is struggling right now for presentations.
My CWRT is also struggling for presentations. During the Sesquicentennial years we had a large backlog due to the increased general interest and all the authors peddling books, but that has subsided.

To me the top image looks pre-ACW.

There top image is a fireman and not a soldier. This slide in my presentation reinforces that not all men in uniforms are soldiers and the need to look for indications, such as arms, that indicate the man is a soldier. The top image could be in an album as an ancestor as a Civil War soldier.

I have not seen an exact date for the fireman but belive it may be from about 1851 because that year many militias and fire departments adopted patriotic uniforms to celebrate the 75 anaversary of the American Revolution.
