Cup Cheese is a cheese made by the Amish and Mennonites of Pennsylvania. It was known before the American Revolution. It would have been a cheese soldiers during Civil War could have tasted.
The cheese is sharp, sour and strong. It has a strong aroma, more some say then Limburger.
It gets its name from being stored in cups or pots. It is always made with unpasteurized cow's milk.
