Just ran across a series of articles of interest to naval ordnance types. They are found in The Artilleryman Magazine, Winter, 2015 Vol 37, No 1. The main article is titled "Raising the Guns of the CSS PeeDee" per 24-31 plus an interesting discussion of a 6.4 inch Brooke shell also recovered on pg 47. All of this is on-line. I found some of the conservation information very interesting. Apparently the gun tubes of three guns are in very condition, the only significant corrosion found on a single tube which apparently had a portion of its iron exposed to air during very low periods of water in the river. One of the weapons is a 9-inch Dahlgren which according to its foundry number of 1862 must have been captured from Union forces.
