Hi All,
Does anyone have the book " Tangled Machinery and Charred Relics..........CSS NASHVILLE" by
Franklin Chance, Paul Chance and David Topper? This is the history of the salvage dives on the
CSS NASHVILLE ( the blockade runner/ raider, not the later ironclad ) sunk in the Ogeechee River
Georgia. I am interested to know if the book has good pictures of the relics these men salvaged before they were stopped by the Georgia DNR. Thank you!

That's a fine looking pen. I just finally acquired the block of wood and cast iron pieces
from the CSS NASHVILLE. Both items have a label on the back saying they came from Paul C. Chance. Richmond Hill, GA. There is a photocopy of a picture of some relics with
the CSS NASHVILLE name. One says " floor plate from engine room catwalk" and is the cast iron plate with the star pattern. The wood piece says "from the superstructure, CSS NASHVILLE, "and shows possible shipworm or other wood bore damage. There are the remains of the worms/ bores still attached to the wood. Paul Chance, Franklin Chance and David Topper began salvage dives on the CSS NASHVILLE in 1979 and continued until 1983 when the Georgia Department of Natural Resources stopped their efforts.
