The sword on the right is a USMC boy musician's sword. The USMC first adopted this model about the same time as they adopted the mameluke, i.e. 1826, and continued to use it until they were replaced by the M1859 musician's sword. They purchased the swords from Widmann until his death in 1848, after which they purchased them from Horstmann. It does not appear the designs were exclusive to the Marines. Horstmann and Widmann are thought to have sold the same design to some militia elements.
