Does anyone have any information about the CSA Detective Corps? I took this photo in a small graveyard in Charles City Co. VA

My interest has been piqued too. The solider on the gravestone in the picture served
in the 15th Virginia Infantry and the Detective Corps according to Find A Grave.
Perhaps this subject matter needs some investigation work. (pun intended)

The name of their OIC in 1864, via the New York Times (February 13, 1864)

From the Richmond Examiner, Feb. 8.

Capt. MACCUBBIN, chief of the detective corps, was assigned the duty of penetrating the mysteries of the case, and threading the details through the labyrinths of rumor to their head and source.
