For what little it's worth, I can't recall any CSA "ram" on the Mississippi River named "Mexico".
However, I do seem to recall there may have been a Confederate privateer named "Mexico" .
Seems that vessel was a schooner/gunboat operating in either the Gulf of Mexico or off the Carolina coasts.
I honestly can't remember.
But I will always wait for our Naval experts to clarify any details.
That's easy. CSS General Bragg was originally a commercial steamer named Mexico, built in 1850 at New York City.
Renamed CSS General Bragg when converted into a "cttonclad" ram at New Orleans in early 1862.
She helped in ramming the USS Cincinnati at Plum Point May 10, 1862
Sunk at the Battle of Memphis June 06, 1862.
Raised and put into Federal service as the USS General Bragg.

Forgot to say that while the above is totally correct, I have no idea about the "ex Wade" comment. She is the CSS General Bragg, ex Mexico.
"ex Wade" would seem to mean that the Mexico was renamed "Wade" before her conversion. I have no knowledge of this being the case, and doubt that it is correct. My suspicion is that this is just a error. Could be wrong.
If anyone out there can give any facts about "ex Wade," please do post the facts.
