We were some of the Engineers in those boats portraying the 15th NYVE. It was an incredible experience. Pete Berezuk deserves a great deal of credit for getting those built. We got the blueprints for him but his crew put in the hard work to get them built. I've never seen such a dedicated reenactor or suport group. I don't have all their names but they were an extraordinary group. Huzzah to them all.
There are more photos of the crossing on our web site if anyone is interested.
Thanks for the kind words unionblue. Much appreciated. It really was our honor to be a part of it. I doubt that another reenactment will have such a place for the Engineers so we were thrilled to be there. Another set of kudos really needs to go out to the region and city of Fredericksburg. They were so very welcoming, friendly and helpful that it was incredible.Ray Ball,
You guys did a great job in getting those plans to Pete Berezuk and the folks who built the boats.
How incredible it must have been to have recreated that one scene from that battle. Great job.
I very much enjoyed touring your unit's website and the fantastic pictures there! Thanks for sharing with us here at the forum.
Sincerely,
Unionblue

why did you decide B&W? One of my reasons to reenact is to see all the color missing in the orginal photographs. Good photo which would have been better in color.Union Forces crossing the Rappahannock river with pontoon boats at the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Fredericksburg. It was just a personal preference. I love working with both color and B&W. In this case I just felt the B&W brought out more detail than the color version of the photo.why did you decide B&W?
